Hello, hello!

With longer, warmer days we’re taking time to reconnect with nature, especially vital for those who live in urban environments. We’re awaiting the arrival of a baby Shiba Inu and the completion of the downstairs bathroom in our rental — experiencing the wastefulness of the construction industry. Also, we’re looking to photograph low waste kitchens to document and share with others so that we can be inspired and learn from one another. Let us know if you would like to be featured!

Pan con Tomate

Pan con tomate is an absolute favourite of ours. Who would have guessed combining good quality bread, fresh in-season tomatoes and a splash of extra virgin olive oil could deliver such rich, generous flavours? Luscious food with few ingredients, this is one recipe that will be on high rotation throughout the summer months. We also included tips for preparing this the traditional way, and how you can enjoy throughout the Winter.

The idea that we can each choose to live in pursuit of radical health is profoundly exciting. For us, communicating a way of eating that is more connected to our environment, plant focused and where possible — organic, not only has implications for our health, but that of the growers, their communities and Mother Earth. If you have not watched Dark Waters, do and read this article on pesticides and cancer risk.

This month, Amandine shares about her on-going hair routines. Her strategy to keep itchy skulls under control keeps on giving, including now the Essano Keratin Complex Smoothing Conditioner. Also sharing the love for Giovanni’s Repairing hot oil hair treatment—warmer months are challenging times and regular restoration is important to keep bouncy hair. And more of a discovery than actual feedback, Castor Oil, the latest trick for thickening eyebrows, to confirm if Reddit's hype for this magic oil is justified.

Amandine’s edit
  1. In Stone Soup magazine, I discovered Grow Fruit & Vegetables in Pots, by Aaron Bertelsen, cook and gardener at The Great Dixter, which includes 50 recipes. I loved the spiced lentils with Cavolo Nero, so tasteful and easy to veganize! Can’t wait to discover the other recipes.

  2. I recently learned about Alisa Vitti and her work on women’s hormones and functional nutrition. This was so mind-blowing and indicative of how women are little instructed about their body’s functions. Did you know we have four cycles, and that we can manage our productivity, mental and physical state by working with these cycles? I am getting her latest book to learn more.

  3. I want to read this piece from the New Yorker Magazine for so long! When some imagine we could live on another planet, this in-depth research describes and relates how humans spread space junk beyond the Earth boundaries, the consequences and why this mess is more dangerous than it seems.

  1. I've been looking for new nail colour and it's finally here. J Hannah are seven-free, highly-pigmented, cruelty-free and made in the USA.

  2. Read this. Thoughts from a world-leading economist on how New Zealand’s property crisis exacerbates inequality and rejects the youth.

  3. Because I am always looking for new ways to exfoliate, this at-home facial via Youth to the People was recently delivered and I could not be more excited.
